Underwear alternatives that will convince you to break up with Victoria Secret

February 11, 2019

Hi Mamas and MTB,

One of the things I was not prepared for after having a baby for the first time was how much your body changes. When I was pregnant, I kept saying how I was so ready to “get my body back.” But here’s the thing – you don’t actually get your body back. You’re skin has been stretched in every direction, you’ve gone soft and if you breastfed then RIP to those ladies. One of the hardest things for me was finding underthings that were flattering, comfortable and fit – which has actually been significantly hard to find. I’m not a “normal” bra size anymore so several of the popular brands don’t carry a size that works for me. I have searched high and low for a year and a half. I don’t even want to think about the amount of time I have spent searching the internet. BUT the good news is, i’ve already done a crazy amount of legwork so you busy mamas don’t have to! Here are some of my favorites that are NOT Victoria Secret.

Scroll all the way to the end of the post for my VDay mom bod friendly lingerie 😉

Everyday Pretty Underthings:

True + Co – mama’s yessssss. Their true body line feels like butter. Ahhhhhh. I also really like it because your breast change in size significantly from pregnancy to breastfeeding to postpartum and then after so these stretchy bralettes are perfect. – Their sizing is S – 2XL vs cup size so there’s more flexibility as your body changes. These are somewhat pricey (around $50) but I just wait for a sale which is quite often.

Third Love – I haven’t purchased this yet as that kind of investment doesn’t make sense for me right now living funemployed in a trailer. But the reviews on their website seem overwhelmingly positive and they have 74 different bra sizing options! These are on the list of things I want to buy when I go back to work.

Soma – I went with my mom and we both scored bra’s we liked. Great options no matter your age. They’re known for their back smoothing bra bands. My mom also bought a pair of Ponte Pants that looks super flattering on her.

Shapewear:

Camisoles: Belly Bandit’s mothertucker tank. Worth every penny, however I was able to score mine for way less on the Poshmark App.

Bodysuits: So I never understood the point of bodysuits but now I’m wishing I jumped on board ages ago. They smooth out everything and also keep you covered from your mid section popping out while manhandling a toddler in mid-tantrum in the grocery store. I’ve had shapewear tank tops before but now that I’m constantly bending down I feel like i’m having to pull them down and re-adjust more often. I like the consistent smooth coverage of the bodysuits instead.

I personally have Bali Women’s Ultra-Light Firm Tummy-Control Sheer Lace Body Briefer in Nude. I wish they’d had the black in stock in my size as well. More smoothing than hard core compression but helps things look smooth and is super soft and comfortable.

I also just purchased a pair of yummie tummy multi strap bodysuits in white and black.

I was also eyeing this lacy bodysuit but it didn’t seem practical for trailer life but if I was still working I would have gotten it.

Macys.com & Nordstrom Rack – seem to have the best sales on top brands for shapewear. Don’t pay full price, there’s always sales.

Undies:

Knix – They have leak proof undies and also comfortable bra and tank options.

Gap High Waisted Breathe Bikini – In all my research these kept coming up from several different blogs. I haven’t been able to purchase any myself because every time they restock this line they sell out instantly!!! Hoping to get some soon.

Kindred Bravely – High Waist Postpartum Underwear & C-Section Recovery Panties. I’ve mentioned these before. These were the only thing I wore post baby. I also have this shorts PJ set and Pants PJ set that’s nursing friendly.

Lingerie & Sleepwear:

Mentionables – Soooo many cute options and PRICE IS RIGHT LADIES.

Blush Lingerie – Cute styles and some retro looking pieces. Everyday underwear to lingerie.

Eberjay – Their PJs were on Oprahs Favorite Things list this year so you know they’re bomb. Super cute undie & bra options. Also cute and comfy PJ Options.

Lunya – I have their pima romper and LIVED in it while pregnant and then postpartum. I’ve been eyeing these machine washable silk pajamas for a while. The quality and fabric of the romper is the best piece of clothing I’ve ever had.

Happy Shopping Mamas and don’t forget to give yourself a little self love on this Valentine’s Day and treat-yo-self!

Xo,

M
